Facebook Pixels - What the heck are they!?
What are they?
What do you need them for?
Why are they so important?
In simple terms a pixel is a code that is embedded into your website which allows Facebook to track your website visitors.
For example, if you've been shopping online you'll start to see lots of adverts appearing in your newsfeed for the products you've searched for. This is because the website you visited has a Facebook pixel embedded, which has fired on your visit and has sent a message back to Facebook. Facebook then starts advertising the pages and/or products.
What's their purpose?
There are 3 reasons to have a Facebook pixel embedded in your website:
Remarketing - exactly what I explained above.
Track your adverts - you should have tracking on all your adverts so you can see which ones are generating traffic, leads and sales.
Optimise your adverts - once youknow which adverts are performing well you can amend and enhance your adverts so they perform better.
So what do you need to do? - the easiest thing ever!
You MUST have a Facebook Business Account - search on Google for how to do this.
Once your Facebook Page is converted to a Business Page click on the 3 lines next to 'Page' in the top left corner.
Click 'Pixels'.
Click 'Create a Pixel', then on the pop-up click 'Create'.
Choose your installation method - there are 3, just follow the instructions!
i. 'Use an integration or tag manager'. The following sites have automatic installation by Facebook:
ii. 'Manually install the code yourself' - watch the video and off you go!
iii. 'Email instructions to a developer'.
NB if you don't install your code straight away, follow steps 1 and 2, and it will come to this page, then simply click 'complete setup now' or 'Setup Pixel'.
Now your pixel's embedded into your website hopefully you'll notice an increase in traffic, leads and sales!
Let me know how you get on.......
